..........Barnsley BNP goes from strength to strength...........

Over 280 people attended Barnsley's latest meeting to listen to Mark Collett, Richard Barnbrook and Barnsley Candidate - Simon Goodricke who all delivered amazing speeches and had the audience captivated.

First up was Simon Goodricke - Barnsley BNP candidate; Simon spoke generally about what is happening in Barnsley and what we can expect Barnsley to become if we don't act now and get councillors elected on to the Borough Council. He compared Barnsley with neighbouring areas and explained how the changes have had a dramatic effect on the indigenous population. This was Simon's first public speech and judging how well it went down, it won't be his last.

The next speaker was no stranger to the folks of Barnsley, Mark Collett received a warm welcome from the audience and as usual broke the ice with a few good laughs before moving on to the serious topic of the approaching European elections. Mark explained the importance of getting people out to vote and warned members and supporters not to be complacent about our 20% of the vote across the borough and explained why we must ensure that every single supporter in Yorkshire, let alone Barnsley gets out to vote. Mark covered many more issues in his speech, some with plenty of humour and some with facts that could make grown men cry. Mark received a well deserved round of applause and won the hearts of everyone for the third time, Mark closed the first half of the meeting by announcing a short refreshment break. We here in Barnsley are certainly looking forward to his return.

After a much longer break than normal, due to the queues at the merchandise stands, the meeting was reopened and the final speaker of the evening, Richard Barnbrook took centre stage and delivered a very well put speech comparing Barnsley with Barking and Dagenham, he explained that like our town, Dagenham was once a totally Labour stronghold and just like here in Barnsley the Labour party never thought it would happen to them, he told us about the dirty tricks played by Labour; some we are quite familiar with and some have yet to come; however, when they do arise, we will be ready for them. He then went on to tell us about how the media portray the BNP as unwanted in Barking and Dagenham and how the electorate there supposedly resent us, regardless of the number of councillors, and an elected member on the GLA; he explained what a warm welcome they all actually receive when out knocking on doors 52 weeks a year and not just the run up to elections.

Once the meeting closed, Simon, Mark and Richard mixed with the crowd and answered many questions that people put to them for the rest of the evening and I'm sure they will be pleased to know that we signed a considerable amount of new members up because of their hard work.

All in all, it was a fantastic evening; new members, record merchandise sales and many more supporters. We also had the pleasure of meeting good friends from Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Wakefield. We are now looking at holding our public meetings every 2 months instead of quarterly and also holding regular ward meetings every month.

There is no stopping the BNP in Barnsley, regardless of what tactics Labour use. See the article that follows soon about the Socialists, Labour and the UAF in Barnsley.
