TA's And Regulars Left In Debt

On Monday 2 April 2007, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) officially launched the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency, aimed at improving personnel, pensions, welfare and support services to members of the Armed Forces and veterans.

See HERE

The Agency sounds very professional and so it should be, dealing with service personnel and veterans. So, would it come as a surprise that this agency has been incompetent in dealing with soldiers operational allowances?

Hundreds of TA and Regulars have been over issued the operational allowance while doing their duties. Mostly in Iraq.

Whoever is to blame for this inept error, it certainly isn't the soldiers who have put their lives on the line for this country. So why use bully tactics to recover the money?
Threats of legal proceedings and in some cases threats of visits from bailiffs.
Some of these lads and lasses in the TA have come back home to just get on with their lives and get back to normality and doing normal things like paying bills, bills and more bills. Click on letter to read.

How can this government, who sent our soldiers into a war, ill-equipped and all the while MPs have been lavishing themselves with luxuries and flipping homes at the tax payers expense.

A government that doesn't think twice about giving billions of our money away in foreign aid and pay out millions in benefits to third worlders who come here unfit to work, but fit enough to keep breeding, living in homes we can only dream of.

Some wonder why the TA numbers have fallen from over 57,000 to around 19,000 and now they have been told to hold off training for 6 months to save £20m. We could all think of many ways the government can claw back money, Some top paying non-jobs spring to mind, but taking it out of the soldiers, and their families pockets isn't one of them. Not when most soldiers have paid out of their own pockets to buy themselves some essential kit.

Just when you thought this government and it's agencies couldn't stoop any lower.

I would like to thank the anonymous person whoever and wherever you are, who passed on this letter. Your fight for what is right will not be ignored... good luck.
