The gang stole the identities of 60 people and used them to take out bank loans and overdrafts, and run up credit card debts. The 32-year-old ringleader, African Ayodele Odewale, drove a £160,000 sports car, wore a Rolex watch worth £30,000 and had bought a sumptuous house in Ilford, Essex, before he was arrested.
When the police questioned him, he tried to bribe them to drop the charges against him.
