Summer School 2007

.
The photo below is of a group of keen Barnsley activists at the BNP Summer School, held this weekend (15th and 16th September ’07) at our venue in the Nottinghamshire countryside. Spaces on the course were limited so we could send just six of our activists, who will pass on the information gained to our other volunteers. Several leading members who were originally due to go were forced to drop out due to the change of dates, but others went in their place. All of our activists were on the level one course as they had not attended last year’s Summer School.

The fact that the BNP holds these courses demonstrates that the Party is serious about building itself into a powerful election winning machine. The potential for success is undoubtedly there and as always education and training is the key to advancement. Our group, Barnsley BNP is held in high esteem by the leadership team of the Party and we have recently been promoted from Group to Branch status due to the high level of membership, activism, funds raised, and electoral success.

The course started on Saturday with the opening speech from our Chairman Nick Griffin. This was followed by lectures on the history of Nationalism in Britain, group development, leaflet writing, canvassing techniques, VoF sales, potential legal problems, and security issues. All lectures were by leading members of the Party, were highly informative and well constructed, and demonstrated the high calibre of people that are running the BNP.

Sunday started with the delegates being split into small groups and asked to come up with suggestions or complaints about how the Party was being run. This resulted in many useful comments which will be collated and discussed in more detail at the November Party Conference. This exercise was followed by lectures on civic versus ethno Nationalism, techniques for dealing with hostile press questions, Nationalist ideology, and mail merge operations. The final closing speech was again by our Chairman, who introduced several new members of the BNP team.

As always these events are a great opportunity to meet old friends and colleagues from BNP branches in different parts of the country: people we had met on other courses or events, at the Leeds demonstrations, or during various by-election campaigns. We also met many new people from other areas of Britain that we are sure to see at future Party events.
