Listen to this clip from BBC radio Sheffield.
A serving police officer asked the South Yorkshire Chief Constable, Meredydd Hughes, why the need for minority associations within the police force, live on air. A common sense question, why the need?
This debate was started by the news that a top officer, Ali Dizaei was jailed for 4 years after giving top brass years of grief. He whipped up a climate of fear and loathing over alleged racism, even criticising a secretary for using the term 'black coffee.'
But playing the race card to get to the top was just the tip of the iceberg for Dezaei.
He was a 'criminal in uniform.'
Ali Dizaei was vice-chairman of the National Black Police Association.
