Description: | To develop relationships and liaise with private landlords to offer support to refugees and migrant workers to access suitable accommodation and provide real housing We are looking for a conscientious individual with experience of dealing with vulnerable service users (including those for who English is not their first language) and knowledge of private sector housing and associated benefits. 1.To take referrals from Asylum Support Workers for Refugees who have an impending move out dates. To action these referrals by offering assistance to these families/individuals as described above 2.To work with the Asylum and Migration Service Development Manager to identify ways to engage the migrant worker community and facilitate their access the private rental accommodation identified. 3.To work with the Principal Private Sector Housing Officer to engage and develop relationships with accredited landlords. 4.To attend Asylum and Migration Team meetings to ensure referrals are made in a timely fashion. 5.To assist the Asylum and Migration Service Development Manager to set up and attend a small and manageable multi-agency advisory group of key officers from the Asylum Service, Strategic Housing, The Housing Options Advice and Homeless Prevention Service and others to offer guidance and support as you set up and develop the project. 6.To attend Multi-Agency meetings to discuss progress and advertise the service. 7.To monitor workload and discuss with the manager any capacity issues impacting on the overall success of the project. 8.To work with Strategic Housing and Berneslai Homes to investigate ways of mainstreaming the housing options project to ensure a project legacy. 9.To work closely with the Refugee Floating Support Service to ensure that particularly vulnerable service users are given assistance in moving belongings from their UKBA sponsored accommodation to their new independent accommodations. 10.To work with the Information Officer to keep detailed data on the success and failure rate, listing all outcomes and outputs. 11.To produce a monthly report on activity to be shared with the Migration Impact Fund steering group and the manager of the Asylum and Migration Team and the Head of Service. 12.To work in conjunction with the manager of the Asylum and Migration Team to monitor the budget. 13.Research, formulation and development of an electronic resource which will carry information on housing availability. 14.To attend meetings and prepare reports as and when requested. 15.To develop the project in the context of wider community cohesion and social inclusion age ndas within One Barnsley's Sustainable Community Strategy. 16.To act at all times in accordance with the corporate and departmental policies and procedures. 17.To operate in accordance with the Councils Customer Care and Complaints procedures. 18.To operate in accordance with the Councils Equal Opportunities, Harassment and anti-oppressive practices, policies and procedures. 19.To operate in accordance with the Councils Health and Safety Procedures. 20.To undertake training and development opportunities as required by Management. 21.And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management |
